Alienware is under the wing of Dell, and has been specializing in developing powerful custom made computers mainly intended for game players. Alienware M17X is one of their newest laptops and if I may say their far greatest achievement to date.
My first encounter with the Alienware m17x
Alienware M17X is truly a robust alien
The Alienware M17X is a laptop that has obviously had much attention given to it. This is clearly visible in its design and the quality of its casing. Most of the laptops for gamers neglect the design and the quality and they intend to compensate for it with the speed of the built in components. The Alienware M17X doesn’t have poor quality plastic casing with many unnecessary stickers, but pleasingly an extremely robust and simply designed metal casing with exceptional strength. The magnet which is attached to the screen of the Alienware M17X is powerful enough, so that the lifting of the screen actually requires the customer’s strength to be used. Alienware M17X is covered with glass that goes from one edge to the other and makes the screen very reflective. To make the visibility even better it’s desirable to shade the room so that the reflection doesn’t interfere with playing games, watching movies etc. Speakers are located on the attractive front part of the Alienware M17X, and you can even see them light up. The hardness of the casing is exceptional and it doesn’t twist, and since it’s been entirely made out of metal, not even the dissipation of the heat can cause any problems.
Best features of the Alienware M17X
The part of the Alienware M17X that stands out is the keyboard. The keys are full sized and regularly distributed. The keyboard is high quality and enables pleasant game play but also writing large amounts of text. The speed of the Alienware M17X is impressive. In synthetic tests it achieved very good results, mostly thanks to the built in graphic cards in the SLI. The Processor of the Alienware M17X is not mobile quad core, which is visible in the Cinebench test, but the two core Core 2 with 2,8GHz, which is entirely enough for playing all new video games. To wrap it up the Alienware M 17 X enables exceptional performance in its’ extremely quality design casing. This laptop is probably best suited for gamers, but if you are looking for top performance as well as mobility the Alienware M 17 X is the laptop you are looking for.
